HaVe YoUr CakE & EaT It tOo!!

Lately I've been venturing a little more into making cakes with fondant and lots of other fun gadgets! My brother-in-law Josh and his girlfriend Paige have become a dynamic trio!! Our first cake was a Easter cake with eggs and a bunny made of fondant. We'd stayed up until midnight playing with the fondant, mainly because the house was so quiet and it was too much fun to stop!! The poor little bunny didn't last too long, I woke up the next morning to litle footsteps running back and forth upstairs. The first thought I had was, "oh no, the cake!!" Sure enough Donovan was chomping away on the little cotton tail. I was sure ticked at the moment, but as I'm recalling the experience it just makes me laugh!! Then we made a cake for Jayson's birthday that looked like a package of oreo's. It was a fun project and unique too. He was really surprised. We'd worked on it for 5 hours on Friday for his birthday on Monday. Then we hid it in the freezer!! There were a few close calls where Jayson was going to get some food from it, but I kindly offered to grab it for him, and he never suspected a thing. I even think that he thought I might've forgotten to get a cake. Sunday night he said soemthing to the affect of, "oh, we need to get a cake." Little did he know, ha ha ha!!! Next we made a cake with chocolate fonadant and hot pink fondant roses and ribbon trim. The chocolate fondant tasted like toostie rolls.....yum! So, if any of you have some great ideas I'm accepting any ideas. At the moment we're building a portfolio of photos of our cakes, and then we'll hand out flyers and try to start up a business. It'll be a business where you can customize your cakes and request any random or bizarre idea!! We're up to any challenge!!

Check out the link on my blog for Kade and April (I don't know it might be private). She made a princess and the pea cake that was SOO dang adorable. Also - check out Brad and Carrie's blog - she's a cake decorater and has done some really impressive things and one of my favorite websites is Bakerella who is iNCREDIBLE and also cakewrecks. Check it out - I love it!
